Daniel Day-Lewis (born Daniel Michael Blake Day-Lewis on April 29, 1957) is an English actor. His performance as Christy Brown in Jim Sheridan’s My Left Foot won him numerous awards, including The Academy Award for best actor in 1989. Day-Lewis took a hiatus from film until 1992, but returned when he starred in The Last of the Mohicans (1992), a film that garnered mixed reviews, but was a success at the box office. Day-Lewis starred in several critically acclaimed movies after that, which eventually led him to his second Academy Award for best actor in 2007 for There Will Be Blood. Daniel is poised to win his third Oscar for 2012’s Lincoln. He is known for his ability to put on dramatic emotional performances, his skills with accents and the in-depth and exhaustive preparations he undergoes for his various film roles. Daniel has three kids and has been married twice. He currently resides in New York City with his wife, Rebecca Miller, and their three children.
