Peng Shuai then competed at the Wimbledon Championships as the 30th seed, defeating Sandra Zaniewska, Ayumi Morita, and Arantxa Rus to reach the round of 16 for the second year in a row. Maria Kirilenko defeated her in three sets. Similarly, she competed in the women’s singles and women’s doubles events at the 2012 Summer Olympics with Zheng Jie. She advanced to the second round.
